Bio

I was born and raised in Enschede. At the age of ten, I accidentally ended up in Carel Willink's studio in Amsterdam through my father, and this made a big impression on me. It made sense to me that after secondary education I would follow a course in art subjects and was admitted to the Academy for Art and Industry (AKI) in Enschede, but ultimately I went for more professional security and opted for the teacher training course in drawing and crafts in Groningen.

After completing this course, I worked with great pleasure as a teacher of drawing, crafts and technology in secondary education for almost thirty-eight years, via a few short detours. In doing so, my path gradually went more and more towards the secondary education subject of technology and its further development, and the visual arts took a back seat. In the meantime, due to various developments in education, I had ended up in Enschede again from Groningen and Assen, together with my wife and two daughters. I continued the rest of my teaching career here.

After ending this career, I, as a pre-pensioner, picked up visual work again in 2021. In my relatively small workshop I regularly work visually in various areas, with making paintings currently taking center stage. Human figures or parts thereof are usually central to the choice of subject. Working on a painting remains a continuous search for a work that suits me.

In addition to this website, my work can also be seen at several local art markets and exhibitions in The Netherlands.
